French Summer Camp
For children 2 1/2 to 12 years old
June 27th to July 29th 2011
For This Summer 2011 at Une École Pour Tous we will once again run a offer our popular French Montessori Camp where your child will have the opportunity to enrich their vocabulary and practice their linguistic skills in more than one language. This year, each week will offer differently themed activities by integrating Montessori learning techniques and materials.
With these various subjects, we offer the opportunity for your child to awaken their critical spirit, to discover and to adapt herself or himself to the world which surrounds them. Each activity will be presented in a playful way and be accompanied with collaborative games. At the end of each weekly session, there will be an opportunity to view your child’s work and support their accomplishments.
First Session: Pastry chefs in training
Become “pastry chefs in training” by preparing a new French dish each day to share with their families and other children.
Second Session: Japanese art and Karate
Wear your sports clothes and come and discover the art of Karate in a safe environment while learning various techniques. A focus will be placed on the respect for this physical activity as an art of honor and shared values. Prepare to move! This session is supervised by Mr. Sensei of the "Martial Art" club of Kingston.
Third Session: Dinosaurs and Archaeology
30 months to 7 year-olds will become little archaeologist while wearing a archaeologist’s hat and discovering the wonderful world of dinosaurs. The 8-12 yea-olds will go in search of artifacts in the city of Kingston. These discoveries will engage your child’s curiosity and imagination about the world around them.
Fourth Session: Nature (2 1/2-6), and theatre (7-12)
Building on the interest that children have in nature and insects demonstrated by age 2 1/2, children will explore and observe the fascinating “insect world” that surrounds them; the 7 to 12 year-olds will learn to express themselves through gestures and body language by involving them in the staging and production of a light and shadow theatrical show.
Fifth Session: Art
Give your child an awareness of modernism in painting as they discover ways to paint in this style during this one-week painting session – Children will be introduced to modern art, architectural styles and engineering achievements as they create their own masterpiece with recycled material. The results can be incredible!.
